Interview Tips

Behavioral interviewing is a technique used by employers in which the questions asked assist the employer in making predictions about a potential employee’s future success based on actual past behaviors. Use examples from previous work experience, volunteer work, internships, trainings, education, and/or hobbies.

S.T.A.R. Technique
Situation Describe a situation relevant to the question that was asked. Provide enough detail, so it is clear. For instance, you were a summer intern and the only one in the office when an upset, key client walked in demanding a solution.
Task What needed to be done and why? Describe the challenge you faced in terms everyone can understand. Avoid using jargon. Explain the task.
Action What did you do and how did you do it? Be direct and specific. Do not take more than a minute or two to get to the point.
Result What was the outcome? If you received recognition from your employer for the work, say so. If you can quantify the result, do that (For example, "The client went away so happy, that they increased their business by 10% and asked for me to be part of the team for their next project."
